About the Dayton Ghost 'n Goblin 5k
The Ohio River Road Runner's Club (www.orrrc.org) Dayton Ghost 'n Goblin™ 5k has been a source of Halloween family fun for 38 years (that's since 1985!!). We've provided a fun, safe, and enjoyable 5k road race for generations of families to enjoy, and we'll keep doing it to improve the health of our community! Our race provides for the non-profit ORRRC to give grants to local children's running clubs, put out free/low-cost races for everyone in our community, and encourage a more healthy and active lifestyle in southwest Ohio!

Your Race Directors
Peter Qumsiyeh
Peter loves to run, and loves it when people call him crazy for enjoying it so much. His idea of a relaxing Saturday morning is not sleeping in or watching TV, instead, it’s starting the day with a nice long run to wake him up.
Peter was born in Bloomington, Indiana, but grew up in Bethlehem, Palestine, playing soccer almost every day since he was 2 years old. When Peter moved to Dayton, Ohio in 2006, he thought running was boring. He initially would sprint then stop (just like a soccer player). However, Peter eventually became obsessed with the competitive nature of running, always looking to achieve new goals. After completing his first 5K in 2007, he quickly decided to run a 10K, then a half marathon, then a full marathon… Then what? Peter started working on speed, aiming at finishing those same distances in less time, challenging himself to obtain a personal record whenever possible.
Besides improving his own performance, Peter strives to encourage others to run. “Running one mile is better than zero”, and “Finishing in last place still means you beat millions of others who did not run at all” are some of the things he tells others motivate them. Peter’s goal is to build a bigger/better running community in Dayton, Ohio, by getting everyone to put on good running shoes, get out there, and RUN. With that, Peter is very excited to continue as co-race director of the Ghost 'n Goblin 5K!
Jen Yoak
Jen has also been called crazy more than a few times for her love of running, which started on the cross country team in high school and progressed to marathons in college. She's 45 states into her goal of running a marathon in every state - the highlight so far was qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon in 2016 (photo).
One of the first things Jen did after moving to Dayton in 2012 was join the ORRRC, and she's enjoyed getting more involved with volunteering and the running community here. She was on the Ghost 'n Goblin committee for several years, handling awards and sponsors, and before taking on a bigger role as co-race director. It's a great race to bring everyone together, have some fun, and enjoy what this awesome sport and Dayton community have to offer!
